How to Use the Study Guides

A quick guide to all the features that help you study smarter

1Navigation

Choosing a Subject

After signing in, you'll see the Subject Selection hub. Pick any subject to open its study guide. Each guide has tabs at the top — switch between sections like Calculator-Free, Calculator-Assumed, Short Answer, etc.

By Topic & By Year

Each section has a toggle pill at the top. By Topic groups questions by syllabus topic so you can target weak areas. By Year groups them by exam year so you can work through a full paper.

Question Cards

Each question is an expandable card. The header shows the year badge, question number, marks, and a short preview. Click to expand and see the full question image.

2Answering a Question

Timer

Each question has a Start button with a countdown calibrated to the marks (roughly 1.5 min per mark). The timer turns orange when time is low and red when expired. Click it again to reset.

Checking Answers

Click the green Answer button to flip to the marking key. It turns red and says Question — click to go back. This lets you quickly compare your work against the official marking key.

Info Button (Accounting)

Accounting short answer and extended answer questions have a blue Info button that shows the relevant Information Booklet pages. Click it to view the supplementary data, then click again to go back.

Drawing & Annotating

Click the pencil icon to enter draw mode. Choose a colour and line width, then draw directly on the question. Use the eraser, undo, or clear buttons as needed. Drawings are saved to your browser and persist between sessions.

3Progress & Organisation

Done & Progress Tracking

Each question has a progress badge ("--" by default). Click to cycle: Done (amber) means you've attempted it, (green tick) means you're confident, click again to reset. A progress bar at the top of each section tracks completion.

Shuffle & Expand/Collapse

The toolbar has three buttons: Shuffle randomises question order, Expand All opens every card, and Collapse All closes them. Great for mixing up revision or quickly scanning through questions.

Schedule

Some subjects have a Schedule tab showing upcoming ATAR assessments. Select your school to see personalised dates and a countdown to your next exam.

4Bookmarks & Notes

Bookmarking Questions

Each question has a star button (☆) in its header. Click it to bookmark the question — the star turns gold (★). Click again to remove the bookmark. Use the ★ Bookmarked button in the toolbar to filter and show only your bookmarked questions. Great for building a personal revision list of tricky questions.

Personal Notes

Each question also has a Notes button. Click it to open a text area below the question where you can type personal notes — reminders, common mistakes, key formulas, or anything you want to remember. Notes are saved automatically as you type and persist between sessions. The Notes button turns blue when a question has saved notes.

Both bookmarks and notes are saved in your browser and stay between visits. They're specific to each subject so they won't get mixed up.

5Dark Mode

Click the moon icon (🌙) in the top navigation bar to switch to dark mode. The entire study guide switches to a dark colour scheme that's easier on the eyes for late-night study sessions. Click the sun icon (☀️) to switch back. Your preference is remembered across all subjects.

Dark mode works with all features — drawing, answer toggles, progress badges, and notes all adapt to the dark theme.

6Keyboard Shortcuts

When a question card is open, you can use these keyboard shortcuts for faster navigation:

KeyAction
AToggle answer / marking key
TStart / stop timer
IToggle info booklet (if available)
NToggle notes
BToggle bookmark
1 2 3Cycle progress badge
/ Next / previous question
Shortcuts are disabled when you're typing in a notes field or search box.

7Sharing & Printing

Share a Question Link

You can link directly to a specific question by adding a hash to the URL. The format is #section-year-Qnumber. For example, #s2-2024-Q16 opens the Short Answer tab and scrolls to 2024 Q16. Share these links with friends on Discord or in study groups to point them straight to a question.

Printing

Use your browser's print function (Ctrl+P or Cmd+P) to print questions. The print layout automatically hides all buttons and toolbars, shows both questions and answers, and formats everything cleanly for paper.
